ZPN Energy seeks strategic energy supplier for roll-out of rapid EV Charging in Network Rail Stations
ZPN Energy has a 15 year concession to design, build, finance and operate rapid EV chargers at Network Rail stations.

On conservative estimates of the roll-out and the growth rate of EV charger utilisation, total power demand will be 145,000 MWh in year 10.
ZPN, with the approval of Network Rail, is looking to secure a long-term, five to ten year, strategic relationship with an energy supplier that includes: energy supply, investment into the SPV, and potentially advertising and branding rights.
Background
ZPN Energy Ltd (‘ZPN’), a UK based manufacturer of innovative rapid EV chargers with unique battery control technology to overcome grid constraints and enhance the charging experience, has a 15 year Design-Build-Finance-Operate (DBFO) concession with Network Rail (NR) to install rapid chargers in stations. The chargers will be public facing and meet growing demand from the public as well as taxis and commercial vehicles. The concession benefits from attractive characteristics including net revenue sharing, no site acquisition or rental costs, 15 year term, and retention of ownership of equipment installed.
ZPN has the flexibility to select sites across NR locations and has identified an initial portfolio of sites based on objective criteria including traffic data, local business activity, charger visibility, accessibility and local EV penetration. ZPN won the concession partly due to its own innovative EV charge points (“HUBZ”), which facilitate ultra-rapid charging in grid constrained locations with an integrated charger, battery and software package. Work is now underway on detailed design and installation of the first five sites and ZPN is seeking a strategic energy supplier for the entire portfolio as it is rolled out
